Congratulations! You have successfully installed phpbb primetime. You can now go to the Administrative Control Panel (ACP) to add more blocks and block positions. The current blocks where set automatically, only for the current style. You can add blocks for other styles manually or simply copy blocks from one style to another. You can choose to display a block on the left or right, above or below, only to certain groups, or only in certain situations. You can also install more modules from ACP. Feel free to delete this sample post. I am curious to know about your experience with this MOD, good or bad. Feel free to showoff your work or ask for support. Have fun. Again, congratulations.

Managing blocks in phpbb Primetime

Managing blocks in phpbb primetime is easy, or complex, depending on what you are trying to do. The goal is to give you the flexibility to achieve your design goals. You can choose where, when, and to whom you'd like to display a block. This article is to provide you with a comprehensive guide on how to manage blocks in phpbb primetime.

WHERE
Phpbb primetime blocks allow you display additional content, provide menus, and highlight recent contents at block positions on the left (sidebar), right (subcontent), bottom, top, or any other block positions that you might choose to create. If the selected block position already has blocks, you can specify the block after which block you'd like your block to be displayed.

WHEN
For purposes of deciding when to display a block, we define 4 situations (display types):

You can also decide to display a block or block position only on some specific module modes, or display them every where except on the selected modules.

If a block position (say bottom) is set to display only on the front page for example, and you add a block to that position and choose sticky as the display type for the block, the block will not be displayed if the url is something like index.php?i=xx&mode=yy. But if you specify a transfer to position (say subcontent), the block will be displayed at this position (subcontent) assuming the new position can be displayed.

TO WHOM
You can specify which groups can view a block by choosing the relevant groups from the dropdown list

Blocks And Styles
Primetime blocks are style-specific i.e. you can specify different blocks for different styles at different positions. So your site can look very different and even display different content based on the style used or the group the user belongs to. If you have several styles installed and you're adding or editing a block, you can select a style(s) in which you'd like these actions to be duplicated. If the selected style(s) does not have the block, it can be created or only existing blocks can be updated depending on what you choose.

Starting out with phpbb Primetime

Phpbb primetime allows you to create a content management system around your phpbb3 installation. It comes packaged with a couple of core modules, most of which were activated at installation. The idea is to provide you with a system that gives you the flexibility to creaate, manage, and display your content the way you like.

Content Types

The content module is a versatile article system for phpbb primetime that allows you to create different 'content types' e.g. News, Articles, or whatever. It is fully customizable from the administrative control panel where you can specify input fields for each content type (e.g. category, summary, content) and who can enter values for these fields (moderators or registered users). You can also choose to set permissions for each content type thereby effectively controlling who can view or post in each content type.

Add Pages

The pages module allows you to create custom pages for your website. You can create a simple page from acp that is integrated into primetime's menu system, or you can create a really customized page making use of special bbcodes to control layout, blocks, tabs, accordions, rss feeds, and slideshows. With this module, you can pull data from any forum topic or any existing primetime block and display it where you choose. You can also make use of templates for effective layout design. Like the content module, you can make use of phpbb3's permission system to limit access to your custom pages.

Categories

The Categories module allows you to create hierarchical categories for your contents. This module is used by other modules to categorize content.

This is only a few modules, and there is more to come. Feel free to play around with the system and don't forget to provide feedback of your experiences.
